The Niagara Region is not only home to Niagara Falls but also home to an emerging wine route with more than 50 wineries. The Niagara Wine Route has been created to guide visitors through the picturesque wine-producing areas of Niagara where they can stop, tour, and taste our award-winning wines.
The Niagara Region offers growing conditions created by the Niagara Escarpment and Lake Ontario. Together, they form a “micro climate” which shelters the vineyards and moderates temperatures year-round. The Niagara Wine Route is one of the most scenic in the world. Winding through adjacent orchards and vineyards, the route encompasses more than 50 wineries, most featuring world famous Icewine.
Travel this picturesque area to tour winery boutiques, sample award winning wines, enjoy winery retail shopping and wine country dining experiences. Also offered are bicycle tours, cooking classes, outdoor BBQ’s and vineyard concerts.
From the heritage business district of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Shaw Festival Theatre, Vintage Inns, Bed & Breakfasts, world class golf courses, beautiful parks and farmlands, the pretty town of Niagara-on-the-Lake attracts thousands of visitors annually who stroll the old streets looking for a leisurely journey back in time.
